Unit 3.1 - Coding


This term the children have continued to extend their understanding of basic coding including using collision detection, variables and timers.





They have also continued to use their computing skills across the curriculum within their Adventures to produce fact sheets, leaflets and posters. Here is some of their great work!




This half term the children have revisited Animation and made some great animations about Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory. Here are a few.





Summer 1


This half term the children's Adventure takes place in Ancient Egypt. They had lots of fun creating Mash Cams of themselves as Tutankhamun and writing their names in hieroglyphics.







In their Computing lessons the children have been building on the skills they have previously learnt using Spreadsheets and presenting data in a variety of ways.


They have learnt how to use formulae, timers and random number/spin features in their spreadsheets. They have also learnt how to create and interpret a table of data and then present the data in different types of charts and graphs. 







In French the children were able to put their computing skills to great use. They were able to use 2Connect to create Mind Maps to show what they have learnt about "les animaux".


Summer 2

The children have extended their spreadsheet skills to include creating a calculating machine using variables. They had to create calculations, solve them and then check if they were correct.



In their Adventure the children have been learning about mountains and created some super Mountain Fact Files.




Autumn 1

Welcome back everyone to another new year at Westwood!

We’ve planned lots of exciting and fun activities for the children in their Computing lessons, which we are sure they’ll really enjoy and learn lots from.

This half term our Mulberry children will be extending their Spreadsheet skills to include creating counting and conversion machines, along with different methods of displaying data.
