Every second week into a half term, we do a Reading Assembly for Key Stage 1 and Key Stage 2. Miss Geater reads the children from Key Stage 1 as story and Mr Ashford does the same for Key Stage 2. We introduce the children to a new book every time to help maintain our huge love for Reading at Westwood.
In Autumn 2, we read Perfectly Norman by Tom Percival.
In Autumn 1, Key Stage 2 were read Ravi’s Roar by Tom Percival. This book has only been released recently and gives the reader a clear message about not letting your height impact on what you can do in life. The children loved it and we would love to find out how many children have gone and bought the book for themselves!
For our first reading assembly of the New Year, we looked at the book ‘Hey Grandude’ by Paul McCartney. This was about a very special Grandad who took his grandchildren to different parts of the world, using his magical powers. We also learnt a bit about Paul McCartney and why he is famous, as well as having the chance to listen to some of his songs.
