Each week you're going to have some different tasks to do. Every day there will be a maths problem to solve too.
Day 1: Arithmetic
Days 2, 3 and 4: Maths skills
Day 5: A combination of skills
As a warm up today I'd like you to have a go at these two word problems.
brothers and sisters
The 20 children in Form 3 at John’s school were asked whether they had any brothers or sisters. 7 children said they had brothers and sisters, 6 children said that they had just brothers – and 4 children said they had just sisters. How many children had no brothers or sisters?
Sally’s class did a survey of 100 pupils’ lunchboxes to see how many of them contained salad and / or fruit. They found 60 lunchboxes containing salad and 65 lunchboxes containing fruit. 15 lunchboxes contained no salad and no fruit. How many of the lunchboxes contained both salad and fruit?
Now you've warmed those maths brains up, I'd like you to have a go at these maths arithmetic questions. If you need to, use the revision websites above to remind you of how to answer the questions.
