Week 3 w/c 15.6.20

Each week you're going to have some different tasks to do. Every day there will be a maths problem to solve too.

Day 1: Arithmetic

Days 2, 3 and 4: Maths skills

Day 5: A combination of skills

Click on the document below to have a look at some of the main areas of maths to do some revision and use the websites linked too

Day 1

As a warm up today I'd like you to have a go at these two word problems.

farming times

There are 36 farms in Powys (North Wales). 2 of these farms keep both sheep and cows, 10 farms keep only cows – and 6 farms are arable farms (they grow cereals and have neither sheep nor cows). How many farms keep only sheep?

a close shave

75 men filled in a questionnaire for Young Shavers magazine. 45 men said they used only electric razors, 7 men said they sometimes used electric razors and sometimes shaved using razor blades. 8 men said they didn’t shave at all (the men with beards we guess). How many men shaved using just razor blades?

Now you've warmed those maths brains up, I'd like you to have a go at these maths arithmetic questions. If you need to, use the revision websites above to remind you of how to answer the questions.

Day 2

Today I'd like you to have a go at some work on comparing and ordering numbers. First you can look at the picture (click on it to make it bigger) to remind yourself of how we compare and order numbers. Then open up the PDF document which will give you the chance to practice these skills. You could answer the questions on a piece of paper.
