Day 5: A combination of skills

Click on the document below to have a look at some of the main areas of maths to do some revision and use the websites linked too

Day 1

As a warm up today I'd like you to have a go at these two word problems.

shopping
120 readers completed a questionnaire for Shopper magazine. 102 said they shopped regularly at a supermarket; 50 said they regularly used local shops. 32 readers said they regularly shopped both at the supermarket and in local shops. How many readers used neither supermarkets nor local shops?

in the gym
Last week 200 people visited the Fit for Life gym. 130 people went swimming in the indoor pool and 65 people used the rowing machine. 15 people went swimming and used the rowing machine. How many people didn’t go for a swim and didn’t use the rowing machine either?

watch the box
75 men were asked which sports they watched on TV. 50 men said they watched football, 30 men said they watched rugby – and 10 men said they watched neither football nor rugby. How many men said they watched both football and rugby?

Day 2

Today I'd like you to have a go at some work on equivalent fractions. First you can look at the picture (click on it to make it bigger) to remind yourself of how to find an equivalent fraction. Then open up the PDF document which will give you the chance to practice these skills. You could answer the questions on a piece of paper.
