# Week 6 w/c 6.7.20

Each week you're going to have some different tasks to do. Every day there will be a maths problem to solve too.

Day 1: Arithmetic

Days 2, 3 and 4: Maths skills

Day 5: A combination of skills

## Day 1

As a warm up today I'd like you to have a go at these word problems.

London calling
The London Tourist Board publishes figures about which things tourists like to visit in London. It seems that:
55% of tourists visit both the Tower of London and Trafalgar Square.
15% visit the Tower of London but not Trafalgar Square
10% don’t visit either the Tower of London or Trafalgar Square
What’s the percentage of tourists who visit Trafalgar Square but not the Tower of London?

green fingers
Bromley Gardening Society has 120 members. 52 members grow apple trees in their gardens whilst 50 members grow pear trees; 17 members grow both apple and pear trees. How many members don’t grow either apple trees or pear trees?

## Day 2

Today I'd like you to have a go at some work on adding fractions. First you can look at the picture (click on it to make it bigger) to remind yourself of how to add fractions. Then open up the PDF document which will give you the chance to practice these skills. You could answer the questions on a piece of paper.

Remember that when you add fractions, the denominators (bottom numbers) have to be the same!

## Day 3

Today I'd like you to have a go at subtracting fractions. First you can look at the picture (above) to remind yourself of how to subtract fractions. Then open up the PDF document which will give you the chance to practice these skills. You could answer the questions on a piece of paper.

Remember that when you subtract fractions, the denominators (bottom numbers) must be the same!

## Day 4

Today I'd like you to have a go at adding and subtracting fractions together. First you can look at the picture (above) to remind yourself of how to add and subtract fractions. Then open up the PDF document which will give you the chance to practice these skills. You could answer the questions on a piece of paper.

## Day 5

Today I'd like you to have a go at this maths skills test which combines lots of different areas of maths that we looked at earlier in the year. Use the websites at the top of the page to help you with any revision you may need to do.
