SEND
Welcome to our SEND page!
This page is to help you to find all the information you will need to understand the way in which Westwood Primary School aims to support and include children with Special Educational Needs and those with a Disability.
At Westwood Primary School, we pride ourselves on the fantastic provision we offer our pupils. Mrs Brown is our qualified SENDCo and leads the inclusion team with support from The Senior Leadership Team . Our inclusion team is dedicated to supporting children and families with their learning and pastoral needs. The pastoral team can help families to support their child in school and at home. The SENDco can be contacted by telephoning the school office.
Westwood Primary Schools buys in additional time with a Speech and Language Therapist . We also have many staff trained in the delivery of individual speech and language programmes and these are provided 1/1 throughout the week.
The SENDCo is trained to Level 3 in Autism awareness. Mrs Brown is our Lead Professionals for Autism and supports children, parents and staff with training and resources.
We have an amazing team of trained teaching assistants who deliver an array of targeted interventions which are designed to close any gaps in learning that the children may have.
We strive to develop staff and provision to meet the individual needs of our children. We recognise that it is parents who know their children best and your views are always of great value to us. For more information about policy and procedure for children who have a specific learning difficulty or a disability, please download our Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) policy. In addition to this, school produces an annual Information Report, which outlines the educational support we provide for children with SEND. This provision runs alongside the Leeds Local Offer. The school SENCo is Mrs Sarah Brown. To contact Mrs Brown please e-mail her at browns@westwoodprimaryschool.org
