Autumn 2: River Reporters
Geography
In Geography this half term, we have been looking at the water cycle, the stages of a river and famous rivers around the world. We have done lots of independent research as well as group work.
Writing
Our Writing this half term has been based on our learning in Geography. We have been writing a river story based on a book called 'The Journey' and have been learning how to write a non-chronological report about rivers.
Guided Reading
In Guided Reading this half term, we have been doing Comprehension Express. This has helped us to focus on each of the 10 Expert Tips and apply them to different text types and genres.
Maths
In Maths, we have been continuing our topic on column multiplication and short division. We have also started looking at graphs and how we can interpret different types of graphs and tables, as well as, converting, comparing and adding fractions.
Science
This half term we have been investigating living things and their habitats. We have looked at plant reproduction, mammals and the life cycles of different organisms. We have also looked at eggs and the function of different parts of them.
DT
In DT this half term, we have been looking at textiles. We have been investigating the properties of different materials and have begun repurposing old pairs of jeans into lunchbags.
RE
In RE, we have been looking at the topic of forgiveness and reconciliation from the perspective of Christians. We have explored why saying sorry is important to Christians and Jesus' teachings on forgiveness.
RSHE
In RSHE this half term, we have been looking at how we can stay safe online. We have looked at lots of different topics within this and the risks of talking to people online.
Music
This half term we have continued looking at 'Livin' on a Prayer' by Bon Jovi and other rock music. We have also had weekly guitar lessons with Mr Goodchild, as well as, practicing our Christmas Concert in our weekly singing lessons.
Spanish
Our Spanish topic this half term has looked at how we can navigate and describe a city in Spanish. We have also looked look at Christmas and how we can describe and design our own festive jumpers.
