Science Fair 2026
Science Fair 2026

STEM stands for Science, Technology, Engineering and Maths, which all cover concepts like problem-solving, logical thinking and the application of technology to solve real-world challenges - all key concepts in Computing as well.
Including Computing in STEM education helps children to enhance these skills, and prepare them for future careers in technology and other STEM roles.
We really enjoyed sharing our Computing activities with you at the Science Fair which included:
Coding Mice
Children programmed the Coding Mice to work their way through mazes to find the cheese treasure!
Micro:bits
Children learnt how to program a Micro:bit (mini-computer) to make a flashing heart, a Rock, Paper, Scissors game, and Emotion Badge plus lots of other fun tasks, guided by our Computer Club experts.

Scratch
This year we included Scratch in our activities and everyone really enjoyed it.
Scratch is a Block based coding language which enables our children to use the skills they have learnt on Purple Mash, in a different App. There is Junior Scratch for younger programmers and Scratch for more experienced coders and both can be accessed free on the Internet.
AI

This year we have been focusing on AI and following our AI Workshop our Year 5 and 6 classes wanted to share some of the fun AI games they learnt about. Here are just three of them and they are all available, free through Google. Why not try them out for yourselves?

Our Computing Club members were there to help everyone through the challenges and we would like to say a huge thank you to them and to you for coming!
We can’t wait for Science Fair 2027!
