Computing and E-Safety
Computing
At Westwood we strongly believe in ensuring our children are fully prepared to compete in the global community and as part of this, we recognise and value the vital role that digital literacy plays.
Computing is a very popular subject as lessons are fun and engaging. Computing is taught using either Ipads or laptops and during lessons children are encouraged to use their imagination to create games, blogs, videos and presentations. The computing curriculum is divided into three areas; Computer Science, Digital Literacy and Information Technology.
We use Purple Mash, in addition to other resources such as Tinkercad and BBC Micro:bits, to support the delivery of the computing curriculum.
PURPLE MASH
Purple Mash is an award-winning, cross-curricular website for nursery and primary school children.
It enables children to explore and enhance their knowledge in a fun and creative way. The children can log on and access a range of games and activities linked to the National Curriculum.
All our children are able to access Purple Mash from home and they really enjoy enhancing and honing their computing skills outside school.
2024-2025
Welcome back everyone to another new year at Westwood!
We’ve planned lots of exciting and fun activities for the children in their Computing lessons, which we are sure they’ll really enjoy and learn lots from.
