Maths

The children are adding equal groups today - similar to multiplication e.g. 3 groups of 2 is 6 - 3 x 2=6.

The children begin by counting how many groups there is, then how many items are within each group. Next, the children are adding together the groups e.g. 3 sixes = 18.

The children may add by counting on, or by using a number line. The children will need help with reading the questions but should be able to have a go answering on their own.

Writing

Today, I would like the children to write a setting description for the centre of the maze. The further you enter the maze, the more dark, spooky and dangerous it gets because in the centre lies the Magic Cup with our next clue. Inside the cup, is the next location for the hidden treasure chest.

I would like the children to begin by finding the different things they could describe, these are called the nouns e.g. the moon, wolf, statues, sky, magic cup, cauldren. Then mindmap the different adjectives they could use to describe the nouns - this is a good opportunity to introduce some new vocabulary:

e.g.

  • eerie (creepy/spooky/mysterious) feeling.

  • gloomy/misty/dark sky.

  • Twinkling magical cup

I would like the children to include the senses in their description - what would you hear? What can you see? How would you feel when there? What would you smell? (This could be fear..).

P.E./Science

I would like the children to do a range of physical exercises and think about what happens to their body - e.g. what happens to your heart? What happens to your temperature? What happens to your muscles?

Create a poster sharing everything you have learnt about your body - what happens when you exercise?

You can exercise using the Joe Wick's P.E workout, or you could download the app 'homecourt' and have a go at the target practice!
