Early Years Curriculum Statement of Intent

In our Nursery and Reception Classes we have a passion for providing children with the best possible start and aim to create a ‘home from home’ environment where children feel calm, stress-free, safe and secure. As a school we have chosen to demonstrate this passion by working towards becoming a Curiosity Approach Accredited Early Years setting. Through the curiosity approach we work hard to create environments that promote awe, wonder and natural curiosity using authentic ‘real’ and natural resources. The curiosity approach is inspired by early educational theorists and philosophers and steeped in research of how young children learn. Within our settings we encourage children to think for themselves and build confidence without constant reliance on guidance. Through well planned and resourced areas we give children time to take part in open ended activities which have endless possibilities. Children are given the opportunity to use their creativity, imagination, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills.
