Autumn 2 - Week 1
This week we will be learning all about the number 6. There's a lot more to this number than you first may think. We need to learn to count to the number, count backwards from 6-0, say what one more is and one less of any number to 6. Add 2 groups to make 6 and compare amounts of objects.
Next week we will be looking at number 5 in a lot of depth.

Counting and Recognising Numbers
In Reception this half term we are going to be rote counting 0-20 with fun songs and rhymes. Rote counting means remembering the order of how we say the numbers but not having to recognise the number or count that many.
Each week we will look at a different number in detail understanding how many objects the number represents, different ways of representing the amount and recognising the number.
We will be doing this in a variety of different ways to ensure the children have a concrete understanding of the number system.
