Harvest Festival

Harvest Festival

What a fabulous assembly we had with our reception and KS1 children this week.  We first of all want to thank all of our children and families that sent in food donations, you were very generous and the children loved to see all of the food on display.   Mrs Norton also donated some home grown vegetables and flowers  that certainly added to our wonderful Harvest display.

Our assembly was a time for us to think about where our food comes from and to be thankful for it.  Children in KS1 have been learning about Harvest Time and were able to share their knowledge with the rest of us.  Some lovely art work was shared,  Cherry Class shared a poem with us,  Blossom class shared their 'Harvest Timeline' and Chestnut Class talked about how they made some bread.  Of course a Harvest Festival would not be complete  without some Harvest songs, which sounds absolutely  wonderful.

What have you brought at Harvest time to put on the harvest table?

Taking our food donations to St Mary's Church

Our Reception Children took all of the food to the church in the afternoon.  They met with Reverend Lisa Senior who was very grateful for the food being received.  She told us that the food would go to help people in the local community who really need it and talked about the 'food club' that they hold at church on a Friday morning.   Some children sang a Harvest song and Rev. Lisa said a prayer of thanks.
