Pirate Writing

Still image for this video

After listening to Pirates in Pyjamas have a think about what you would like like as a Pirate. Have a look at the picture, here I have drawn myself as a pirate. Have a go at drawing yourself as a pirate and then finishing the sentence.

If I was a pirate I would …

have a big sword?
a tall black hat?
have a colourful parrot as a pet?

sail a big ship with a huge cannon?

Try and think of a describing word to use in your sentence just like we have been practicing at school!

Craft

At the beginning of our pirate adventure, we had ago at making our own pirate ships using junk modelling materials such as cereal boxes, kitchen roll tubes, egg boxes, yoghurt pots etc. After creating them, we then tested them in the water tray at school but sadly many of them sank. We then did a piece of writing to reflect on how we could all make them even better. Some of us decided to make them bigger/smaller, some of us wanted more pirate ship details such as a flag or steering wheel and then some of us were ready to change the material completely from using an egg box to wanting a butter tub of yoghurt pot instead. Today's craft challenge to to use some junk from in your home to create an even better pirate ship and then test it in your bath or sink to see if it floats.

Remember to send photos and video to tapestry so we can see these amazing creations.
