Provision

Creating an environment where the children can explore their own learning is important at Westwood.  The provision provides opportunity for children to extend their learning through questioning, challenging and investigating through the art of play. We have a phonics corner, role play area, sandpit, Maths and writing zones, and a construction area.

We will update this page with the different challenges and activities the children do across the various provision areas throughout the year.

We have loved our first week exploring the new Cherry classroom. There has been lots of fun activities that have allowed us to explore and immerse ourselves in the learning this week.
In provision this week, the children have been exploring number and the different ways we can represent numbers.
The children have loved our provision activities from this week. We have built structures using cogs and gears, as well as building and writing our high frequency words.
We have been very busy in Cherry class this week! The children have been exploring 1 more and 1 less in Maths and practising this skill in provision. We have also been playing phonics games and practising all the sounds we have learnt so far.
We have been playing 'sound out splat' to practise our segmenting and blending skills!
This week, we have been exploring part, part, whole models in Maths and learning our number bonds to ten. The children have loved practising their addition skills to 10!

We have been busy in our new role-play area, a Zoo Cafe!

The children have loved our writing area this week, their amazing work is now displayed in our classroom.

Spring 2

Our provision this term is inspired by 'The Day The Crayons Quit'!. We have been busy writing our own crayon letters and enjoying role-play in the ship the crayons sailed across the continents in.

As it is science week, we have also been investigating plants and re-potting them in our tuff tray.
