Phonics - Ii -i-i-insect

Listen to the phonics lesson below on the sound 'i'. Can you practise 'i' by drawing, painting or writing it. You could write it in a tray of salt sugar or rice to make it a little bit more exciting. Why don't you try going on an 'i' hunt in your house or garden. I look forward to seeing your work on Tapestry.

Writing Activity

Yesterday you listened to the story 'There's a dinosaur in my school!' and you described what the dinosaur did at the school he visited. Today I would like you to imagine if a dinosaur came to your house.  What would it be like to have a pet dinosaur?

What would it eat?

Where would it sit? Who would it meet?

Can you finish the sentence...

If a dinosaur came to my house it would ...

Draw a picture of the dinosaur in your house.

Story Time

Topic - Map skills

Look at the map I have made. This a map of how the dinosaur got from school to my house. School is the start and my house is at the end.

The dinosaur left school and walked along the road. Can you answer these questions about the map.

How many trees did the dinosaur walk passed to get to my house?

How many yellow houses are on the map?

The dinosaur went passed the library and had to be careful not to fall in the _____ across the road.

Can you draw your own map and put your own objects on it.
