Class 5/6W

Welcome to Class 5/6W!

smiley

Welcome back to Westwood, I hope you have all had a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year! Our first term back was very eventful with our first two adventures (Mysterious Mayan Mission and Wartime Tale) and the Year 6s even spent a week at Ingleborough just before we broke up.

Now it is time to embark on our newest adventure:

Our adventure for this half term

Our first adventure of the new year started with a BANG when a hot air balloon crashed down on the playground! The balloons pilot, Barnaby Myles, needs our help to repair his craft. He is making a documentary about his journey around the world but, without our help, he will not be able to achieve his dream!

As a thank you for helping him repair his balloon, Barnaby has invited us to accompany him on his round the world documentary trip! Our first stop after leaving Leeds was a visit to the Red Square and St Basil's Cathedral in Moscow, Russia!

While in Moscow we filmed the first episode of A Whole New World! before moving on to the Himalayas and Nepal where we wrote poetry inspired by the massive mountains and visited Buddhist temples to learn about their religion. Using what we learned we recorded a second episode of the show.

After filming the Himalayan episode of A Whole New World! we set out for a new filming location. Our route took us over night-time Tokyo and, feeling a little homesick, we stopped to send a postcard home and try the local cuisine.

Sushi sampled, we recorded a short episode about Tokyo for Barnaby and we began the next leg of our adventure. Soaring into the air, the balloon drifted south, past Taiwan and the Philippines, until we reached Australia.

After looking at the geography in and around Sydney, we filmed the final episode in the series and set off for home via the USA.

Unfortunately a violent storm appeared from nowhere and, after battering the balloon, knocked us off course and sent us who knows where!

Luckily, we managed to sent all the existing episodes of A Whole New World  on ahead of us. Join us for the premier (complete with bubbly!) in Class 5/6W on Thursday 8th February.
