Welcome to Class 5/6A

Welcome back everyone! We cannot believe how quickly the summer holidays have gone! We are really looking forward to the year ahead, which we know will remain a valuable part to the children’s time here at Westwood.

On this class page, you should find all the up-to-date information about what has been going on around school. Below are just some useful things to know about our class:

Teacher: Mr Ashford

Teaching Assistant: Mrs Thompson

Key Information:

PE

This will take place on a Thursday afternoon and Friday morning. Please make sure your child always has a suitable indoor and outdoor kit on both these days.

Homework

Homework is given out every Friday and should be returned the following Thursday. We always give the children a Maths piece of homework, as well another creative piece.

Spellings

Again, we give spelling out every Friday and there will be a spelling test on the Thursday. Every second week, we give the children the same spellings to practice, to give them the chance to improve their score and learn them in more detail.

Reading

Reading books and records are given out to the children every Friday and they have until the following Thursday to read a specific amount of their book. We really enjoy reading at Westwood and it is so rewarding to see how motivated the children are to reading at home.

Below you will find a variety of links relating to the above. Please also click onto the different 'Adventure' sections to keep up to date with all the fantastic things we have been doing in Class 5/6A!

Year 6 Ingleborough Residential

Just before Christmas the Year 6s went on a week long residential to Ingleborough Hall in the Yorkshire Dales where they got to to a range of amazing activities including Gorge Scrambling, Caving, Orienteering  and the Norber Photo Trail.
