Chapter 1 - Numbers to 10,000
In our first chapter, we looked at place value and rounding numbers up to 10,000. We used lots of equipment to help us represent the numbers and got very confident with the different methods and symbols, working with much bigger numbers.

When learning about rounding to estimate, we went shopping and looked at lots of different prices to round the price to make it easier to add together.

Chapter 2 - Addition and Subtraction
We began this first chapter by reminding ourselves of what we learnt in Year 3. We looked at 3 digit + 3 digit numbers and worked around the different tables to represent the numbers using different pieces of equipment.
Chapter 3 - Multiplication and Division
We're now moving onto our next chapter where we're learning all about the 6, 7, 9, 11 and 12 times tables and their associated division facts. This will be really helpful when it comes to our MTC this year! We've been playing lots of games to help get the facts into our heads!
Chapter 4 - Further Multiplication and Division
We're now beginning to look at more complex multiplication and division and moving on to think about the column method for multiplication and bus stop method for division. We're still embedding all of our times table knowledge at the start of every lesson and we've been playing lots of new games in maths.
