The children in years 5 and 6 have been working hard at improving their use of vocabulary when using the glockenspiels in Charanga lessons. We have also been appraising different genres of music and discussing how music can make us feel and think.
Year 5 and 6 have been working on their own compositions and writing these down with 4 beats per bar. The children used their knowledge of crotchets, quavers, minims and semi-breves to compose 4 bars before performing them to the class.
First we composed a short riff using four notes in a table. We then progressed to writing notes on a line and adding dynamics for effect. After that we explored how professional composers write down their compositions on a stave before having a go at writing our own on a stave. It was tricky but by the end of our composition unit, we mastered writing our notes in multiple ways.
