SATs Week
Can you believe that this would have been SATs week? How are you feeling about that? Sad? Glad? Relieved? However you’re feeling, here’s a message from us to you.
As SATs week arrives, it is not quite the same,
The tests that were printed this year never came,
The displays all still up, walls full of maths ‘rules’,
But year 6 is very different, right now in schools.
For some of you, happiness, lots of relief,
For others a sigh of pure disbelief,
That you worked really hard in advance of this week,
Expected and Greater Depth marks you did seek.
Place value, fractions, the times table drills,
Inference, retrieval, in depth reading skills,
Past present, progressive…and all the SPAG terms,
Across the subjects of many you’ve learned.
Fear not though, the SATs won’t happen this term,
Remember tests don’t measure everything you learn,
Primary subjects are varied; you’ve always tried your best,
And many of those skills you’ve gained can’t be defined by a test.
So, here at Westwood, you’ve made us so proud,
We sit here with pride and we shout this out loud…
‘’Year 6 you amaze us, you’ve come incredibly far…
And we don’t need a test to see how amazing you are!’’
A message from Mrs Partridge...a bit like the Queen’s speech, but without the crown!

Our Class Song
I don't know about you, but while I'm at home, I'm missing a good old sing-song with my very talented class! Why not have a practise of our song for this half term? See if you can remember the routine!
Welcome to Sycamore's class page! We hope you are ready for another exciting term and our brand new adventure - 'Rio Vs Rainforest'. On this page you can find all our class information and links to adventures, homework (with weekly spelling lists) and much more.

Our immersive learning environment!
In December, the Year 6s spent the week at Ingleborough Hall and had a wail of a time!
An introduction to judo.... 11.11.19
We all had a great introduction to judo today. After warming up by playing some games, we tried a few moves. As you can see from the pictures, it was great fun!
Excellent homework…..

Roald Dahl Day
Today is Roald Dahl’s birthday and to celebrate we dressed up as characters from his books.
We later took part in different activities. After reading a description of the monster from 'The Minpins' book, we made pictures using items we had found on our school field.
