Phonics Games!

Below is a range of phonics screening tests, these are really useful practice for the children. Have a go at segmenting using fred talk and blending the words. Are they real of alien words?

Ask the children to say the 'special friends' (2 /3 letters 1 sound) first, then the whole word.

Red words - below is a list of the high frequency words that the children must learn whilst in year 1. It would be great if the children can practice reading and writing these regularly at home.

You will need:
A cupcake tray
Bottle top lids
Paper
pen

Phonics Pong

You will need:
Cups/glasses
paper
pen
a ball/bottle lid

Phonics spin the bottle

You will need:
a bottle
paper
pen

Write 5-6 red words or even this week's spellings out on small pieces of paper to then spin the bottle and see where it lands!
red words:
come, some, the, she, like, said, he, they, there, by, my, me, what, have, are, you, was, saw, all, mr, mrs, friend, house
