Maths No Problem

We have been learning about tens and ones, and we have used this learning to add through column method.

In Maths this week, we have been learning how to do our 5 times tables through repeat addition. We used paper plates to show how we group amounts when multiplying.

We have been exploring division this week and how it is connected to multiplication. The children grouped counters by an amount and into an amount of groups, commenting on the difference between these.

Today we went outside to practice our odd and even numbers. We ran to the correct side of the playground and had to justify why we thought a number was odd or even.

We have now moved onto measuring. The children explored measuring through using a metre stick and decided of each object was more , less or about a metre.

We have been measuring using centimetres and learnt how to measure accurately using a ruler.

This week we moved to measuring mass using kilograms and grams. We put out learning into action by using scales to weigh a range of objects and food.

To conclude our Maths topic of mass we went outside to put our learning to the test. We had challenge cards and the children had to find the answer using objects from the natural environment.

We have been identifying different British coins and adding different amounts together using the least and most coins we can.

We went outside to answer word problems using the four operations. We worked in teams to solve each challenge.
