Week 1:

This week in maths we are learning about 0, what 0 means and how to represent it.

We are also learning to understand the vocabulary of 'more' and 'fewer' and try to use this in play independently.

Week 2:

This week we have been learning about capacity. We have learnt what capacity means and had a go at making predictions as to which container has the largest capacity. 

Lots of us were surprised to find out that it wasn't always the tallest that held the most and that we needed to look at the width of the container too!

Week 3:

This week we are focussing on learning about number 6. We have looked at counting out 6 objects on to a ten frame, the numeral, the composition of 6 and the different ways of how to calculate 6.

Week 4:

This week we are focussing on learning about number 7. We are looking at counting out 7 objects on to a ten frame, the numeral, the composition of 7 and the different ways of how to calculate 7.

Week 5:

This week we are focussing on learning about number 8. We are looking at counting out 8 objects on to a ten frame, the numeral, the composition of 8 and the different ways of how to calculate 8.

Week 6:

This week we are securing our number knowledge with numbers 6, 7 and 8. We are working together to play games finding the same number being represented in different ways and being able to say why two numbers are different.

Week 7:

This week we are learning all about doubling! We know that we need to count the first number out and then count the same number out again to double it, counting the total to then find out the answer.
