Music and other Rowan Class Activities
For Macmillan, every class did some baking. As we have been learning about the Mayans, who were famous for making chocolate, we baked some chocolate cupcakes. This was a very messy, but enjoyable experience and the cakes tasted delicious!
Ukulele
This year in Rowan Class, we are learning to play the Ukulele. Mr Jennings comes in every Wednesday and teaches us how play the a variety of well-known songs including Katy Perry’s ‘Roar’ and George Ezra’s ‘Shotgun.’
Roald Dahl Day
Roald Dahl Day was definitley a great way to start our year in Rowan Class. We began with an assembly, where the teachers and children had a Roald Dahl competition, which really tested their knowledge! Afterwards, we did some activities in our Key Stage, which included Miss Trunchbull's javelin, a search round school for Mr Wormwood's cars and doing a peach experiment!
CBeebies came to Westwood!
The children loved taking part in the CBeebies workshop and had a great time watching the Ridiculous Rhyme show for assembly. During the workshop the children learnt all about the different roles needed in a studio, such as the camera crew, lighting, sound, costumes etc They had the opportunity to carry out some of these roles during a role play session in the workshop.
