Summer 2
Week 1:
This week we have been learning how to double. We have learnt that double means twice as many and we know now that we need to get 2 groups of the same number and then add the total together to work out the answer. Some of us can even recall a few doubles without using any resources to work it out!
Week 2:
This week we have been learning how to share quantities fairly. We have learnt what the word equal means and know this is very important when sharing out quantities. We looked at sharing quantities between groups of 2, 3 and 4 and now know how to problem solve when a quantity is unequal, although, this can be tricky sometimes.
Week 3:
This week we are learning about odd and even numbers. We used Numberblocks to start our learning off by looking at the shapes of the numberblocks and the odd tops and even tops. We then looked at creating pairs and how we can tell if a number is then odd or even.
Week 4:
This week we are learning how to problem solve and make sensible predictions using our number knowledge. Throughout the week, we will also be consolidating our number knowledge using numbers 1-20 and revisiting using the vocabulary more and fewer. Some of us, are also beginning to write it down!
Week 5:
This week we are revisiting our knowledge of positional and directional language. We have been applying this to create our own maps and then talk about them. We have created maps based on stories, our journey to school and a plan of an obstacle course.
Week 6:
This week we have been looking at combining 2 and 3 amounts together to create our own addition number sentences. We have done this through games and had so much fun, we didn't want to stop. We have used physical games, cuisenaire rods, counting cubes and number tracks to support us!
