Our book of the half term
Summer 2
We have been reading the well loved traditional tale, 'Little Red Riding Hood'. Our children are familiar with the story after hearing it several times and love joining in to tell the story.
"Grandma, what big ears you have!"
"All the better to hear you with"
"Grandma, what big eyes you have!"
"All the better to see you with"
"Grandma, what big teeth you have!"
"All the better to EAT you with"
Aaaargh!
Summer 1
This half term, our favourite book is The Train Ride by June Crebbin. It follows a rhythm throughout the story and the children love to see the changing scenery.
Spring 2
The Very Hungry Caterpillar is such a great book for so many reasons, the children love to see the small hungry caterpillar, grow bigger and bigger as it eats. They name the many things it eats and know why it gets a stomach ache. After eating a leaf they love to see it become a beautiful butterfly.
Our children soon get to know the story well and love to tell the story as they look at the pictures.
Spring 1
This half term our favourite book is So Much! by Trish Cooke. it is a lovely story and we have been learning about different cultures too.
Autumn 2
Our favourite book this half term has been Whatever Next by Jill Murphy. We have loved learning all about space and making our own rockets. We have retold the story in our provision and changed the ending too.
