Summer 2: Yorkshire
Today in Rowan we had a lovely visit from a lady called Sarah who works at the British Library. The children had a fun afternoon learning about the Library in London and understanding all the different types of books, news papers and many more items that the Library holds. In this workshop Sarah spoke to the children about poetry and what they thought about it. The children learnt different ways when it comes to write poetry and they all had a go at writing there own poems about something meaningful to them. Some of the children even got read them out in class.
Rowan had a very fun filled morning getting active with the fantastic people from Great Athletes. All the children did lots of different exercises from star-jumps to burpees. The children did so well and tried their best with every exercise. Keep moving and stay active!
This week has been poetry week at Westwood Primary and Rowan have been working with a fantastic poet Chris, to put together a poem with all there amazing ideas based on The Yorkshire Dales. Rowan had a fun afternoon working with Chris who got them to write down what they can see, hear and smell around there neighbourhood and city, to what they can see, hear and smell in the Yorkshire Dales. Rowan did so well in there performance in front of the school and really showed enthusiasm.
