Terrific Tuesday - Literacy

Hi everyone, remember the story of 'The dinosaur who pooped a pirate?' Today I would like you to imagine you are Danny and the dinosaur. They have landed on skull island and they need to find the treasure. Can you draw a map with your mums and dads to find the treasure on skull island. Please label your map using initial sounds. Can you draw Danny and the dinosaur on your map? Where do they go? How do they find the treasure?

Creating a Pirate Island Themed Tuff Tray

Using a tuff tray or a play tray can be a fantastic thing for developing children's language in the Early Years. Playing and talking to your child about the things in the tray can be extremely beneficial. Below I will post some ideas for a pirate themed tuff tray - this can be done in any tray. You do not necessarily need sand you can use lentils or yellow coloured rice for sand. Children will enjoy the different textures that these provide. You can use toy figures for the pirates or you can make your own. Have fun and play with your child once you have made your tray. You do not necessarily need to have a large tray. You can do this in a variety of ways.
