Wednesday 6th Jan
Maths:
Today in maths we will be looking at multiplying multiples of 10. You are going to find out what the word 'product' means when multiplying two factors together and how to times multiples of 10 with a number. Once we have done the 'In Focus' and 'Let's Learn' together on the live lesson, you will carry out your guided practice, workbook and journaling questions that are underneath. You can either do this on paper or on an electronic device, whichever is easiest for you. Then, you can ask your parents to email a picture of your work to me and I will give you feedback.
Guided reading:
Carrying on with 'The Iron Man'. Today in guided reading we will be looking at the book we started on Monday. We are going to be focusing on the skill 'retrieval' from the big 10. This means that we are going to directly use the text to retrieve information to help us answer questions. Once we have done the retrieval input on the live lesson, you will carry out the comprehension questions about chapter 1. You can either do this on paper or on an electronic device, whichever is easiest for you. Then, you can ask your parents to email a picture of your work to me and I will give you feedback.
Writing:
This week, our genre for writing is a setting description. Today, you are going to be looking at some examples of setting descriptions and finding the common features that are within both. This will then help when writing your own setting description of New York on Thursday. Once you have listened to the live lesson, you will look at the images of New York and think of ways to describe the setting using adjectives, think about your 5 senses. You do not need to put these adjectives into full sentences as we will do this tomorrow. You can either do this on paper or on an electronic device, whichever is easiest for you. Then, you can ask your parents to email a picture of your work to me and I will give you feedback.
Adventure:
Today you will be doing geography- plotting on a world map. I would like you to follow the instructions on the presentation and tell me where we are on a world map and North America. If you would like, you can do any research about New York as an extension task.
