Phonics

I will be delivering a live phonics lesson at 10.30 for all children to attend. Please have a pen and paper ready for the spelling part of the session.

Please also complete daily spellings, handwriting and any extra phonics games from the phonics game tab on cherry remote learning page.

This week's spellings:

what

now

how

when

from

them

Please practice spellings at home for a short time each day.

Maths

Today is a review of the fractions learning from this week. It begins by asking the children to shade shapes and then completing word problems. It is important the children understand that when we share halves and quarters they are shared equally either between 2 or 4 groups. Using visual or physical representations for the questions will be really useful - this could be lego pieces/counters/pen lids, anything they can physically move into groups.

Writing

I will be delivering a handwriting and spellings lesson today so please make sure your child has a pen and paper for the lesson, and has practiced their spelling beforehand.

Geography

Today we are going to be comparing Middleton/Bodmin Garth to the Treasure Island we are stranded on. Can you identify the features of each place and compare their differences?

e.g. Middleton has concrete roads, the Island has sandy beaches. Middleton has lots of manmade buildings, then Island has natural shelters.

It is important the children recognise the difference between natural and manmade buildings and things - e.g. trees versus concrete.
