Maths No Problem!
At Westwood we follow the Maths No Problem scheme. This scheme adopts a hands on approach and tries to incorporate as many real life experiences as they can in lessons.
We had a look at matching numbers with a given amount. We counted how many toys there were and then counted out that many cubes to go with it. We got all the way to 10!
In Provision we were looking at matching the numicon to the numbers laid out. The numicon was wrapped up so we had to try and work out how many there was by feeling them.
In our maths no problem lessons we have been learning about part part whole.
This week we have been learning about height and length. We used rulers to help us measure.
For maths day we had a maths magician come in. We then did lots of other activities all to do with maths! We had lots of fun.
We were looking at 3D shapes in maths. We decided to go on a shape hunt in small groups to find as many real life 3D objects as we could!
We have been looking at halves and quarters in our maths recently! To make this as hands on as possible, we decided to use cupcakes to help us understand how to split things and into how many parts. We split them into equal halves to begin with, and then thought about how we could make it into quarters.
