Fairy Tales

We have welcomed lots of new children to nursery in January and they have all settled in fantastically! This half term we have been reading lots of different fairy tales. We have read Three Billy Goats Gruff, The Gingerbread Man, Goldilocks and the Three Bears and the Three Little Pigs. We have completed lots of different activities based on these stories. Have a look at the photographs of the fun we have had this half term:

The Gingerbread Man

We have read the Gingerbread Man story. We used our scissors skills and pencil skills to be able to create pur own gingerbread men. the children used a paper plate for the body of the gingerbread man and used coloured paper to be able to create the arms and legs. The chidlren added googly eyes to finish their art work.

Gingerbread Man Footprint Art

The chidlren painted their feet to create a gingerbread man. The children used their fingerprints to add extra detail such as buttons, icing, eyes and a smile. The chidlren thought the paint was cold and that the paintbrushed tickled their feet.

Gingerbread Man Baking

We made our own gingerbread men. We measured the ingredients and placed them in a bowl. We then mixed the ingredients to create the gingerbread dough. We used a rolling pin to roll out the dough and a cutter to cut out the gingerbread man. We then added decorations to the gingerbread man before we put them in the oven to bake. Once the biscuits wree baked we tasted them and they tasted delicious.

Dress the Gingerbread Man

The children read the gingerbread man story and then the had a go at dressing the gingerbread man. Once they had put the buttons on the gingerbread man the children counted how many buttons that they had used.

Goldilocks and The Three Bears

We read the Goldilocks and The Three Bears story and we completed lots of activities based on the story. We made bear bread. The chidlren used their motor skills to be ble to spread the chocolate spread on the bread. The chidlren then sliced the banan and added this to the bread to create eyes and a nose. the chidlren added the last touch of raisins to complete the eyes. The children ate their food creation and siad that they were delicious.

Ordering Bears

The children talked about the way thatthey could sort and order the bears. The children sorted the bears by size and colour.

The Three Little Pigs

Pig Handprints

The children painted their handprnts to create the body of the pig. the children then added extra details with a thin paintbrush. They painted the eyes and the nose and the ears. The chidlren used a piece of string to be able to create the curly tail.

The Three Little Pigs House Building

The children sued a range of building materials including, lego, sticks, plasticine, wooden bricks and straws to be able to build a new house for the three little pigs. Once the house was complete the children became the wolf from the story and they huffed and puffed to try and blow the house down. The children were checking that they had built a house strong enough to protect the pigs from the wolf.

Three Little Pigs Shape Pictures

The children were exploring 2D shapes. We talked about the 2D shapes that we could see and we used them to be able make our own pictures. We made the three little pigs houses and also the three little pigs.
