Good morning and welcome to week 4 of home learning! We've got some exciting things lined up this week as we move on to a new text in Guided Reading, continue with our exciting science topic and get very creative later this afternoon! Please keep the work and shoutouts coming in to mulberry@westwoodprimaryschool.org and if you need any help, you know where we are!
I'll be doing the wellbeing calls again this week, they will commence from Wednesday and will once again come from a 'No Caller ID' number. I'm looking forward to catching up with all of you again!
Guided Reading - live on Teams at 10.30am
We're moving onto a new book today which is a much loved book by children and adults alike. Today, we'll focus on your predicting skills using our new text, 'Diary of a Wimpy Kid'. During the live lesson, I'll demonstrate how we can make predictions through pictures based on what the characters facial expressions are showing. Then, for your activity, there are some pictures below from the text. I'd like you to write some predictions which you think is happening in the text based on the clues in the pictures. Look very carefully at the pictures and think about the clues and what they tell us.
Adventure - anytime
Today, I'd like you to get creative. Below there are instructions to make either American style pancakes or a Native American headdress. We're going to make them today and then later on in the week in writing, we are going to write instructions about how we made them. Take some pictures of you following the steps and send me some pictures of your final outcomes too - I'm looking forward to seeing them.
Below as well there is also a link to 'Cooking with Mr Cooper' where I make the American style pancakes so you could follow along my video. If you don't get chance to make anything, that's absolutely fine but if you don't make anything, PLEASE watch my video instead.
Writing - live on Teams at 1pm
We're going to complete a short edit lesson today. During the live input, I'll remind you why we edit and what we look for when we edit - remember we do it to make our work better! Below, there is then 2 texts which I'd like you to read and complete some E1 edits - remember E1 edits include capital letters, punctuation and checking the sentences make sense!
Maths - live on Teams at 9.15am
My group are going to continue looking at the column method but today we are going to move on to the compact method. We've been practicing it expanded and thinking carefully about the value of each digit, but today we're going to squish it all back together and move on to look at the formal method you need to know!
