Spring 2
Week 1:
This week we have been consolidating our knowledge on length and height. We have been using the vocabulary long, longer, longest, short, shorter, shortest and tall, taller and tallest to compare and order the length and height of ourselves and a variety of classroom objects.
Week 2:
We started the week by learning about time. We thought about how time is continually passing in seconds, minutes, hours and days. We looked at ordering events and daily routines. We thought about at what times in the day they occurred. We then set ourselves challenges to complete using a sand timer. It was lots of fun!
Then we moved on to learning about 3D shapes. We have looked at being able to name the shape and talk about some of their properties, drawing upon our knowledge of 2D shapes to help us.
Week 3:
This week we are learning about the number nine! We are using our number skills to help us recognise and represent the number alongside applying our addition skills and finding different ways to make nine by adding two numbers together.
Week 4:
This week we are learning about the number ten! We are using our number skills to help us recognise and represent the number. We know that when we have ten on the 10 frame, it is full and there are no empty spaces. We are also reviewing using the part, part whole model as we begin to explore number bonds to ten.
Week 5:
This we were are consolidating of learning of numbers from one to ten. We have been ordering numbers from one to ten, matching the quantities to the correct numerals and continuing to develop our recall of one more and one less than a given number.
Week 6:
This week we have been consolidating our knowledge of 3D shapes. We have looked at being able to name the shape and talk about some of their properties. This included counting corners and spotting what 2D shapes we could see in the faces.
