Music

This year we are learning to play the cornet. Each Wednesday our music teacher, Mr Tong, comes into school to teach both our class and 5/6 A.
As part of our World War 2 themed Christmas Concert, some of the Year 6 Cornet players teamed up with the children learning Clarinet with Mr Scott to give us a rendition of Jingle Bells.

The next two pieces of music we have been learning to play are Darth Vader's March from Star Wars and Tobaggan Man.

Linking into our adventure, A Whole New World, we have begun to learn how to play part of the song from Aladdin on the cornet.

As a one off, we got to have a lesson of Bamboo Tamboo.

Bamboo Tamboo is a form of music from the Caribbean Islands of Trinidad and Tobago.

It combines hitting a Bamboo (plastic) tube on the ground then striking it with a beater.

In our adventure, Rio vs the Rainforest, we have visited Rio de Janeiro just in time for Carnival. In our lesson, we learned about Samba music and even had a go at making some of our own!

Each group of instruments had their own tune to learn and used a different phrase to help them remember the rhythm.

After each group had perfected their part, we joined the rhythms together into a piece of music played by the whole class.
