Summer 1
Week 1:
This week we have started learning about numbers beyond 10. We have looked closely at the digits that represent these numbers and reminding ourselves that the number 1 represents 1 10. We are now familiar with 11, 12, 13 & 14 and can recognise and represent these quantities. We are continuing to embed our learning of how to find one more and one less than a given number.

Week 2:
This week we have continued learning about numbers beyond 10. We have looked closely at the digits that represent these numbers and reminding ourselves that the number 1 represents 1 10. We are now familiar with 15, 16, 17 & 18 and can recognise and represent these quantities. We are continuing to embed our learning of how to find one more and one less than a given number as well as ordering numbers from 1 - 18.

Week 3:
This week we have continued learning about numbers beyond 10 and looked more closely at number 19 & 20. We learnt that 20 has 2 tens so the numeral 2 in 20 means 2 tens. We have also consolidated our learning on odd and even numbers and looked at odd and even numbers between 1 & 20.

Week 4:
This week we are learning how to add more to an existing amount. We are using the sentence stem first, then, now to help us see the process of the number sentence. For example first there were 3 people on the bus. Then 4 more people got on. Now there are 7 people on the bus. We are all very good at being able to practically work this out and some of us are beginning to record our work by writing it down.

Week 5:
This week we are consolidating our learning using the first, then, now addition number sentence. Now we know how to work out how to add two amounts together and find out the answer (the now) we are concentrating on how to work out what has been added (the then) when we are not looking. We have been building up our confidence using a number track to do this.
