Summer 1

Week 1:

This week we have started learning about numbers beyond 10. We have looked closely at the digits that represent these numbers and reminding ourselves that the number 1 represents 1 10. We are now familiar with 11, 12, 13 & 14 and can recognise and represent these quantities. We are continuing to embed our learning of how to find one more and one less than a given number.

Week 2:

This week we have continued learning about numbers beyond 10. We have looked closely at the digits that represent these numbers and reminding ourselves that the number 1 represents 1 10. We are now familiar with 15, 16, 17, 18 & 19 and can recognise and represent these quantities. We are continuing to embed our learning of how to find one more and one less than a given number as well as ordering numbers from 1 - 19.

Week 3:

This week we have been consolidating our number knowledge for numbers between 0 and 20. We have also looked closely at 20 and how it is made up of 2 tens and no more. We have looked at ordering and representing a variety of numbers and matching them to quantities.

Week 4:

This week the children have been learning about addition and subtraction. They are able to work out number problems practically and some of us are beginning to record our work by writing it down. We used the sentence stems first, then, now to support our learning.

eg. First there were 3 people. Then 10 more people got on. Now there are 13 people on the bus.

Week 5:

This week the children have been consolidating their shape knowledge. We have reviewed 2D and 3D shape names and their properties. The children then had a go at applying this knowledge to articulate different reasons why one shape out of a selection could be the odd one out. They also used a variety of resources to create their own shapes and create shape pictures.
