Themed Days and Trips

Year 5 Scooter Day

On Friday 19th September, our Year 5s had a lovely time in their groups learning all about the green cross code and how to keep safe when out and about on a scooter. Ben from Leeds City Council showed the children how to check their scooters before they are used and made sure they knew that they needed to wear the correct equipment. After all checks were done, Ben set out tracks in the playground for the children to use and showed them how you need to be sensible when out on the streets. The children really enjoyed the afternoon and Ben also taught them some tricks at the end.

Newby Wiske - Year 5 Residential

In September, Year 5 headed to the Newby Wiske PGL Adventure Centre for 3 days of fun, laughter and amazing activities. We took part in so many fun activities like climbing, fencing, zip wire, trapeze, archery and so much more! Take a look at the photos below to see what we got up to…

Eden Camp

On Tuesday 30th September, we went on a trip to Eden Camp in Malton with Willow to learn more about our topic in History - World War Two. We went into 22 different huts, which were all about different aspects of WW2 such as The Blitz, The Battle of Britain and D Day. It was a fantastic trip and the children all really enjoyed going in the playground at the end.

TT Rockstars Day

Today Sycamore had a very special guest visiting them for TT rockstar Day. Liam Gallagher has taken time out from his Oasis tour to join them on a fun filled day. The children have had loads of fun playing exciting math games and challenging the rest of the school on TT rockstars. With all the hard work from the children on TT rockstars, Sycamore went and won the challenge by beating the whole school with their fantastic math skills. Well done!

Fire Safety

On the 7th October, year 5 and 6 had a visit from the amazing Fire Service in our local area to talk to them about fire safety. The Fire Fighters spoke about the safety around bonfire night and explained the dangers that can occur and what consequences can happen if not used correctly. They gave fantastic advice on how to make sure all safety checks and procedures are done and the children had lots of questions ask.

Hello Yellow Day

On the 10th October all the children came to school wearing yellow to show awareness for children's mental health. In Sycamore we spoke about different situations around mental health and how we can support each other.
