Computing Club
Westwood Computing Club
Once again this year we have an after-school club for all our budding Programmers and it's proving very popular.
There are always lots of activities on offer including access to Purple Mash and a host of different Computing and ICT activities.
Here some of our members are practising their coding skills using our Coding Mice. They are able to code the mice to move around the different mazes they create and collect cheese.
A more recent addition to our computing resources at Westwood has been the Micro:bits - a pocket-sized computer that introduces children to how software and hardware work together.
There are loads of fun coding tasks such as making an LED name badge, a rock, paper, scissors game and LED dice.
Here we made flashing hearts badges.
As some children master their coding talents on the Micro:bits, other have started to construct models using our brand new Wonder Building Kit.
Here we have constructed a motorbike which is controlled using code that the children downloaded to a Micro:bit and it worked brilliantly!
