Summer 2
Week 1:
This week we are learning all about sharing and grouping. We have looked at sharing objects into groups of 2, 3 and 4. We have been using the vocabulary equal and equal to describe the groups and then understanding if it is fair or unfair. When it is unfair we have then problem solved how we could make it fair by either adding or taking objects away so that everyone in the group has the same amount.

Week 2:
This week we are consolidating our knowledge of doubling and number bonds to ten. We are now able to recall some doubling facts and number bonds but when unsure, we are able to use a ten frame to help us work out the answer.

Week 3:
This week we are consolidating our knowledge of repeating patterns. We know how to continue and create an AB pattern and have been creating these in the different provision areas. We are now concentrating on being able to continue and create ABB and ABC patterns.

Week 4:
This week we are consolidating our knowledge on positional language and beginning to use this as a tool to following and giving instructions. Part of this required us to consider the viewpoint from different positions and realising that we might all be able to see the same thing but we might be looking at it from a different viewpoint. This then led to giving instructions. These instructions are so that we can direct our friends and follow verbal instructions and show our understanding by then accurately carrying them out physically by moving, drawing, building and creating.

Week 5:
This week we are exploring maps. We will look at a variety of different maps and charts and be able to recognise that they show representations of the world around us. We have looked closer at aerial maps and being able to identify key landmarks and symbols. We have then transferred this knowledge to begin creating our own maps.

Week 6:
This week we are consolidating our map skills and drawing our own maps based on familiar stories and places. We have enjoyed creating our own fairy tale inspired maps for stories such as Little Red Riding Hood and The Three Little Pigs as well as creating maps of our classrooms and treasure maps!
